Ear Piercing Aftercare
Congratulations on piercing you or your loved ones ears by Elliot!
The following is Elliot's recommended aftercare to ensure a safe healing of the ear after piercing:
-
Spin the earring from the front once a day, as if you're setting the time on a watch
This gives the area a bit of breathing room, and helps the ear heal safely.
-
Apply some alcohol once a day to the pierced area, to keep it sterile
Elliot recommends any sterile isopropyl alcohol pad, or with a paper towel.
-
Leave the earring you pierced with in the ear for 4-6 weeks.
This gives the ear enough time to heal safely.
-
Rinse the area well during a shower to remove any residue from shampoo or other products.
-
When removing the earring for the first time [after 4-6 weeks], be sure to clean the back of the earring, the earring post, with an alcohol wipe prior to pulling the earring out.
This prevents any dirt to pass through the healing area, and prevents a potential infection.
FAQ:

Q: If I need to remove the earrings early, how long do I have before the hole closes up?
A: This varies from person to person. Elliot has experienced clients whos ears have closed within just a day or two, and others within a month or so. So ultimately there is no solid answer when it comes to this question, as everyone is different. Just keep an eye on it, and look for an earring to replace it as soon as possible.

Q: What earrings do you recommend I get after an ear piercing? 14k Gold, Sterling Silver...?
A: 14k Gold is generally quite pure, and thus a very safe option, however you can still go with other materials like Sterling Silver. Some people can be more sensitive to Silver, and yet some people can even be sensitive to Gold. So again, everyone is a little different, and with experience you'll be able to learn what works best for you.
